Roomba!

I've neglected to mention my new toy, a Woot.com brand-spanking new Roomba!

After stalking woot.com for a month, they finally had a Roomba...and I had missed it! Argh! Usually, when you don't want a Roomba, that's all they have, so I was disappointed that the one time in my life I want one and have a place that's perfect for it, I never found one. They are rather spendy normally, but you can find them (when you find them) rather inexpensively on woot.

When I finally got him (it's a boy...at least most of the time), we had to let him charge ovrnight. And then, the very next day, as I made a pot of coffee, I let Roomba loose on the world.

It's funny to watch. Mesmerizing. Which sort of defeats the purpose of cleaning automatically if you sit there watching it instead of doing something else while it's busy. But there's something so cute about seeing it bump-bump into things, then scoot off in a different direction. It glides under the sofa and comes out the other side...which Dan and I agreed we would likely clean beneath the sofa much more rarely on our own.

And when it's all done cleaning, it rolls to its base and plays a triumphant little beepy tune. So cute!

I love Roomba! Even if he did shed dog hair on the edges of the rug when he went over its edges last time. I believe that is his signal that I need to clean out his whiskers.

A Roomba is definitely on my list of must-purchase items. Right after I get a new fuzzy logic rice cooker (5 or 10 cups, haven't quite figured out which). But I need to move first, so maybe after Christmas when the sales are in high gear.

You have to keep your floor clear to use a Roomba...not sure how it would work in your apartment, but it is a cool gadget!

Note: not saying your floor is messy, but it's working for us because we haven't got any electronic gear in the upstairs living space, so Roomba runs unobstructed. When you have lots of cables and cords, it's more challenging...that's why he's an upstairs cleaner and not downstairs.

I'm sure it'll have fun snookering around my various possessions. Or OSM's various possessions.

Oh, wait.

Damn.
