Octoberfest!
We didn't go to one! Oompah pah...puh.
We did, however, bring home some Guinness from the store :)
On Friday, Dan and I attended a farewell event for one the guys who's moving on to a new job...with Steven Spielberg. While Mr. Spielberg may be a person or two removed from whom he will be working, still. Who wouldn't want an opportunity like that? And I got to talk with the dude for the first time since I moved up here.
That's the odd thing in many offices. You see the same people over and over, you pass in halls, you smile and say hello...and you have no freakin idea who the hell they really are. Well, as I found out, Mr. Plunkett has an entire class of ships named for him in Wing Commander, because he's the dude who designed them. That's pretty cool! Even without the Spielberg job opportunity!
And then on Saturday, we went to see the Mythbusters at the Moore Theater in Seattle. They were pretty much the same as on TV, which is not a bad thing. And they are taller than I imagined :) You could totally see having them come over for a BBQ or something. Well, Adam, at least. Jaime doesn't seem as social, but he was still pretty funny. I'm glad I noticed that they were coming on the Yelp event page, as we had otherwise heard nothing about them touring around.
Yesterday was much more domesticated. I made a vat of marinara, roasted a couple of chickens and then Dan grilled us a pair of rib eyes from the butcher's shop down the street. Mmm! It's kind of cool to live in a neighborhood with a butcher shop. I've never frequented one before, but Dan's family has (for generations!) gone to Thurn's in Columbus so he was equally pleased to find a butcher nearby.
All in all, I'd have to say that it was a lovely little weekend!
