Welcome Home!
Suz's little needlepoint "Welcome Home" is on the mantel in our "downstairs" living room. We are still surrounded by boxes and mystical bits of flotsam and jetsam, but we are finally in one home together!
Mittens and Melody are currently in the room that will eventually become Dan's office. We keep the door shut so that my two cats can get used to the sounds of the dog clattering around on the hardwood floors, as well as the presence of the Other Cats.
Right now, Heather's two cats are also here. Spike and Alex, who both have the same grey/white colors that Melody does, are both much bigger than her. Spike is especially hefty; he's twice her size, but makes a peculiar squirrel-like squeak instead of a meow. It's really cute, but unnerving.
And of course, the other Other Cat is Scooter, aka Basement Cat.
Spike has already met Mittens and Melody. Melody, who has the personality of a Basement Cat but without the provenance, hissed and growled at him the entire time. Mittens eyed him suspiciously but said nothing. Spike was ecstatic as I had sprinkled catnip everywhere in their room. He wandered from one festively herbal place to another, rolling about and squeaking.
We've been calling Spike and Alex "Cabinet Cats" as their favorite hiding spot is the cabinet above the refrigerator. As I was setting up my computer in its lovely hutch, Spike came wandering in and immediately waltzed into the hutch.
Because it's a cabinet.
And also, because it's where I had the container of catnip hidden away. Cabinet Cats are good at opening doors, so I think this container will move elsewhere tonight.
That's the latest news from Lake Cat-astrophe, where all the cats have nicknames and all the humans play video games.

I love your house name/motto. Congrats on getting moved into the new place. You are definitely a house of pets right now.
It's definitely House of Something :D We have to herd the cats to their respective domains at night, lest they keep us up with their incessant scuffling.
Scooter seems to believe the whole house is Hers and she is getting in everyone else's bizniz. I offered Dan the spray bottle with which I zapped Mittens and Melody when they were getting into fights, but all it does with Scooter is leave us with a tiny, wet and pissed off kitteh :D
I am giggling at tiny, wet pissed off kitteh because I can hear you saying it. Silly house of pets.
Melody and Mittens were enough for my allergies but this? I'm calling your new home Claritin Castle.
