Animal House

Photos of the entire menagerie are up on Flickr now! Yay!

We've switched around the pets' living arrangements in one of those logic puzzles where you need to figure out which person is which based on simple statements.

A. Scooter gets along with Butch.
B. Mittens and Melody are friends.
C. Mittens gets along with Spike and Alex.
D. Scooter hates Spike. And Alex. And Mittens. And Melody.
E. Alex is nocturnal.

So, we've had to put Scooter in Dan's office at night, brought my two cats into the downstairs living area where we spend a lot of time and will let Alex and Spike have run of the upstairs. While we're awake, Scooter can run around, snarling and chasing Spike. Alex sleeps during the day in a cabinet, so he's not disturbed by her (much). Butch gets along with all the cats except mine, as Mittens and Melody have never dealt with a dog before. They're wary, but just now Mittens came up to check out Butch while he sleeps on the couch beside Dan. That's encouraging!

We are watching Olympics and had the disgruntling experience of changing channels from NBC's "live" coverage to CBC's coverage...which is apparently more live than NBC's. NBC is showing women's gymnastics; CBC showed the race in which USA men's team won the 400 meter relay.

NBC claims they'll be showing that "live" later tonight. Um, yeah...but it's already happened, so that's not exactly live live, is it?

And of course, it spoils the entire race for us when it comes up later on, as we changed channels exactly at the moment when the last guy in the relay touched the wall and cheering erupted about their world record win.

Maybe that just means we can go to bed early tonight. :)

We hope they will get along soon, too. It's very unnerving to be sitting downstairs with two cats and hear sudden yowling and spitting upstairs.

After a while, Dand and I would just glance at each other and say, "I don't even want to know."

It wouldn't be so bad probably if Scooter didn't get mad at Spike or Alex...then follow them to continue her rage when they shrug and walk away. If she would act like Melody and just be pissed when they come too close, it would much quieter.

Since Scooter follows them, hissing and growling, they've taken to teasing her, which gets her even more pissed.

At least she leaves Melody alone a lot more...especially since Melody took umbrage and sliced Scooter across the nose. Sad to say, Dan and I were cheering for Melody in that round. Scooter's been a bad, bad girl. =/

Poor Scooter. No one loves a h8er.

Sounds like a small zoo. At least they are keeping each other and you entertained. Alas, not all entertainment is good.

Going to Fan Faire?

"This one," thinks Mittens, "is a friend of the Evil One. They both must die. When Mom and Dan aren't looking, of course. Must discuss with Mel. She's got a better right hook."

Word verification: eukuk, as in "Honey, I'm tired, why don't eukuk tonight?"

No Fan Faire for me this year.

Someone has to save the kittehs!

Scooter is now sporting a puka near her whiskers in addition to the sliced nose. We think Spike or Alex poked a paw under the door to her room (they both have claws, too). I don't think it was Melody this time. Poor Scooter.
