The New Hood
We've located a few shortcuts to get around. Chris has found a gas station with relatively inexpensive gas. And yesterday, Phil and I located the Safeway/Von's near us that's much bigger than Podunk Von's, has several types of cocoa and includes a bakery.
I love bakeries.
The other day, Phil and I walked around the area to the nearby major road. We counted four corner market/liquor stores, a car repair place, a bar, two restaurants, four coffee shops and a Buddhist temple. And one bakery!
And that's just along the one street. Glancing further down side streets reveals other marvels of walking-distance charm.
Even if we can hear everything our neighbors do, it's comforting rather than annoying. I have a built-in bookcase. Mittens and Melody are getting along better. Things are good.
I like my new place. What do you like best about your hood?

I love that my neighborhood has about 10 awesome local restaurants - all in short walking distance. And the only fast food place in walking distance is a Subway. Yay! Technically it is also in walking distance from the university, but I keep forgetting to sign up for any evening classes.
You should visit! And hey, if Broos ever stopped blowing me off when he visits town, he could see it too!
When I'm done crunching here, I'll come visit you for a couple of days :)
Of course, you'll be crunching so it won't be a good time, so we'll reschedule. Then I'll be crunching and can't go...
Aieeee!
First, thank you for the bday wishes. Twenty-two is an awesome age to be, oui?
Second, I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your neighborhood. It's really great to feel at home in your home.
Third, I love my 'hood because it's safe, has scores of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and is five minutes from Waikiki beach and the freeways.
But I hate my hovel.
Oh...I fixed my blog, too. It works again.
