I've been up since about 5am, listening to birds waking up. Why they have to be so noisy at the crack of dawn and then go silent is a mystery to me. Are they harder to locate once the sun's actually up?
Melody is so affectionate now, it's hard to recognize her as the bitch she was when I first brought her home. She and Mittens still do not get along, but I don't come home to tufts of random cat hair any longer. And he, weaponless, holds his own against her. I caught him one day thwapping her so hard on her skull that I could hear it from across the room.
Currently, I have Melody curled up beside me, purring. If I sat such that I have a lap, she would immediately curl into that. Unfortunately, she has claws and even though she doesn't mean it, she will unfurl them into my leg as she stretches and gouge me. She wants to be in physical contact with me, though, so even though her body is over there, her paws are thrust out against me...claws imbedded in my skin.
Now that I share an office with a door, I might take her in to work with me. SteveD likes cats. Maybe he'd like to have one hanging by her nails from his leg? :)

Question (I don't know anything about it): Is it possible to have a pet owl (or a familiar :) )?
I mean, actually keep one in a house, or a big house or a huge cage or something?
Seriously, no idea but very fascinated by the concept.

I'm not sure. They're predators, so they need space to roam. It would have to be a BIG cage! :)
